An Update on Creative Projects

Hey, y’all! It’s been a while. I spent the winter with loved ones celebrating the holidays. I got a new 9-5 job to kick off the new year! The last few months have been dedicated to getting settled in there.

Now that I’m more adjusted to my new schedule, I wanted to share little tidbits of my creative projects recently. Here are some updates!

Little Libraries in San Marcos, Texas

One of my goals for my book was to make it accessible. I had the idea to place copies of Born on the Border in a town I love dearly: San Marcos, Texas.

I was already planning on passing through on my way to see family in south Texas. I stopped by for lunch with my buddy Logan at Pie Society to give him books to disperse in the city. I gave him five signed copies of Born on the Border.

I graduated from Texas State University in 2020, and I look back at my college years fondly. I wanted the city to have a bit of me. My heart is always so full when I visit there.

Writing New Books

Since I’ve slowed down on in-person events, I’ve had more breathing room to create. I’ve found new inspiration. I have titles for my next two books, and it has been torture to keep them a secret.

The book that is the furthest along is one of love poetry. It is loosely based on my love life and history of crushes, fixations, heartbreak, and peace. I have around 150 poems written for this book. I’m hoping to finish the first draft of the book by the summer. It has been such an incredible joy and challenge to create something so personal and revealing. I am open to folks who are close to me to review the work for feedback before I go through the publishing process. Reach out to me if you are interested in this!

The second book I’m working on is a sort of continuation of Born on the Border. I want this book to be more rooted in Mexican American history. I was a United States history supplemental instructor in college, so I’ve always been enamored with learning about history. I’m excited for the opportunity to join two things I love with this book.

A Digital Zine

I will be featured in a digital zine sometime this year! I cannot release many details at the moment, but I’m eager to see my work in a new medium alongside other writers’ creations.

Thank you for your support!

I am so grateful every day for all the people I have met since becoming an author. I’ve been a creative my whole life, but there is something special about being known as one.

Love you all so much.
